Emotional Surfing (Letting Feelings Rise and Fall)
What this is
Emotional surfing means allowing emotions to move through you instead of trying to push them away.
Most emotions peak and fall within minutes when not resisted.
When it helps
-
Panic waves
-
Strong sadness
-
Anger surges
-
Urges to escape or shut down
The technique
You observe the emotion like a wave — rising, cresting, and falling.
Try this
-
Notice where the emotion shows up in your body
-
Rate its intensity from 0–10
-
Breathe naturally while observing
-
Check the intensity again after a few minutes
No forcing calm.
Important note
If emotions escalate instead of easing, grounding first may help more.
