You allow small, controlled release.
Try this
Choose one:

Cry for a few minutes

Write freely for 5 minutes, then stop

Squeeze a pillow or stress ball

Use movement to release tension
Stop when intensity decreases.
Important note
Release should relieve, not escalate.
If it intensifies distress, switch to grounding.
