The technique

You delay response long enough for emotion to settle slightly.


Try this

  1. Pause for 10–30 seconds

  2. Take one slow breath

  3. Ask: “What would help most right now?”

Respond after.


Important note

Pausing is not suppressing — it’s choosing timing.
